Aversan Inc. (www.aversan.com) is a trusted multi-service engineering company delivering safety-critical electronics and software to aerospace, defense, and space industries. We seek an experienced Certification Lead with expertise in DO-254 and DO-178C to oversee certification processes for airborne hardware and software systems. The role ensures compliance with aviation safety standards through collaboration with engineering teams, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
Daily responsibilities include refining process development per DO-254 hardware and DO-178C software standards, writing process documents, and overseeing certification artifacts like PHAC, Hardware Plans, Compliance Checklists, and Reports. Coordinate cross-functional integration of certification into system lifecycles and provide guidance on ARP4754A, ARP4761, and AC20-152A. Ensure robust verification, validation, and traceability for components.
Work with a geographically and culturally diverse team in a full-time remote role across Canada or US, with 5-10% travel. Communicate effectively as liaison with certification authorities including DERs and customers. Participate in SOI audits and address certification concerns.
Identify and mitigate risks to meet safety requirements, supporting project deliverables. Gain technical leadership in best practices for hardware and software certification. Advance expertise in aviation compliance within innovative safety-critical projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in aerospace certification with strong background in DO-254 or DO-178C
- Hands-on experience in preparing certification artifacts and supporting compliance activities
- Strong understanding of safety assessments, system engineering practices, and quality assurance standards
- Expertise in DO-254 for hardware and DO-178C for software certification processes
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ARP4754A, ARP4761, and AC20-152A
- Experience with certification audits and interactions with regulatory authorities including DERs
Responsibilities
- Refine and implement certification processes in accordance with DO-254 hardware and DO-178C software standards
- Write and update DO-254 and DO-178C process documents
- Oversee preparation, review, and submission of certification artifacts including PHAC, Hardware Plans, Compliance Checklists, and Compliance Reports
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate certification requirements into the system development lifecycle
- Provide guidance on best practices for hardware and software certification per ARP4754A, ARP4761, and AC20-152A
- Ensure robust verification, validation, and traceability processes for hardware and software components
- Prepare for and participate in certification audits including SOI audits by regulatory authorities and DERs
- Identify and mitigate certification risks; act as liaison between teams, authorities, and customers
