The Technical Specialist in avionics systems develops avionics and electrical solutions for improvements, expansions, replacements, or new platforms. This role ensures compliance with civil certification standards like FAA, TCCA, EASA, and military programs such as CH-146. Responsibilities focus on analyzing project, production, and certification requirements.
Daily tasks include supporting system integration with component selection, interface compatibility, and electrical schematics. Develop test plans, analyze results, and prepare qualification reports for components and aircraft. Update requirements, certification plans, and compliance matrices in response to changes.
Perform certification analyses including electrical loads, thermal, safety, and EMC. Support aircraft testing, SIL lab integration, troubleshooting, and initial installations. Coordinate with suppliers on displays, flight instruments, communication, navigation, sensors, and health management systems.
Join the avionics and systems engineering team based in Mirabel, Québec. English communication is required with Bell teams, suppliers, partners, and clients outside Québec. Review supplier technical documentation and represent the discipline effectively.
Requirements
- Baccalauréat en génie électrique/avionique (Bachelor's degree in electrical/avionics engineering)
- 5 years or more of relevant experience in aerospace or equivalent work experience
- Experience with integration on commercial and military aircraft is an asset
- English communication required with teams, suppliers, partners, and clients outside Québec
- Familiarity with civil certification standards (FAA, TCCA, EASA) and military programs (e.g., CH-146)
- Ability to review supplier technical documentation
- Represents the discipline by providing and presenting technical support
Responsibilities
- Analyze project, production, and certification requirements and develop technical solutions for aircraft avionics and electrical systems

- Develop test plans and procedures, analyze results, and prepare qualification reports for functional and certification testing
- Update requirements in the technical requirements management tool for change requests
- Develop and update certification plans, qualification plans, and compliance matrices
- Perform analyses supporting certification of installed or modified systems including electrical loads, thermal, safety, and EMC
- Support aircraft testing, systems integration lab (SIL) testing, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate with avionics suppliers for development, integration, and testing of displays, instruments, communication, navigation, sensors, and systems health management
