About this role
The lead inclement weather engineering role centers on using CFD to analyze gas turbine engine response in various conditions. Analysis considers technical needs of regulatory agencies and customers to provide quality analysis meeting engine system needs. It executes robust processes for design, recommendations, and optimization from concept to production.
Drives engine and system level functional analysis using 3D CFD techniques applied to multi-stage turbomachinery. Reports engine performance in inclement weather and ingestion with respect to regulatory requirements. Participates in research, design, development, and enhancement of gas turbine inclement weather operation technologies.
Works as an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills in a team environment. Impacts departmental operations through planning and execution with some autonomy. Uses judgment guided by standard practices to propose solutions and solve problems.
Develops in-depth knowledge in inclement weather using CFD and other tools. Applies prior experience and technical expertise to execute best practices. Understands how team work integrates with others and contributes to the business area.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering
- Ability to work independently, but within a team environment
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. with no sponsorship for employment visas
- U.S. Person status required for access to export-controlled information
- Familiarity with ice accretion and particle tracking
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Established project management skills
Responsibilities

- Report engine performance in inclement weather and ingestion with respect to regulatory requirements and standards
- Participate in research, design, development, and enhancement of gas turbine inclement weather operation technologies
- Develop in-depth knowledge in inclement weather using CFD and other tools for analysis
- Execute best practices and strategy using prior experience and acquired technical expertise
- Use judgment to propose different solutions outside set parameters with guidance
- Integrate work with other teams using understanding of key business drivers
