Sierra Space builds missions and systems that keep our world secure above Earth. As a Propulsion Engineer Intern, help design and evaluate propulsion technologies powering spacecraft and rocket systems. Assist in advancing space-based technology for national security and human presence in space.

Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of propulsion systems alongside experienced engineers. Support computational modeling, component testing, and performance evaluations. Explore propellant behavior, combustion dynamics, thrust generation, and efficiency optimization for high-performance aerospace applications.

Requirements

  • Actively enrolled in an undergraduate degree program
  • Expected graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027
  • Pursuing degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • Academic focus aligned with propulsion technologies
  • Passionate about innovating in space-based technology
  • Able to commit to 12-week summer internship

Responsibilities

  • Help design and evaluate propulsion technologies that power spacecraft and rocket systems
  • Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of propulsion systems
  • Work alongside experienced engineers on projects involving thrust generation and efficiency optimization
  • Support computational modeling of propulsion systems
  • Conduct component testing and performance evaluations
  • Analyze propellant behavior, combustion dynamics, and overall system performance
  • Develop reliable, high-performance propulsion systems for aerospace applications
