About this role

Odyssey Systems Consulting Group recruits a Senior Communication, Navigation, Integration (CNI) Avionics Engineer to support the Attack Systems Division (WID) at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. WID, part of the ISR/SOF Directorate (AFLCMC/WI), manages a $22 billion acquisition portfolio for Air Force ISR and SOF platforms and sub-systems. The role equips warfighters with reliable weapon systems.

WID serves as the centralized hub for Pre-LOR and Case Development for Foreign Military Sales (FMS) new business efforts. Duties focus on LAA avionic CNI systems, including Controls and Displays, Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, Data Links, and Cabin Management Systems. Support spans development, testing, integration, and certification.

Review CNI OEM-delivered data like engineering drawings, performance specifications, and interface control documents to verify requirements. Perform CNI engineering activities involving Military and Commercial Standards, Airworthiness Directives, architectures, and interfaces such as MIL-STD-1553 and RS-232. Assist with interoperability, Spectrum Management, and Electromagnetic Environmental Effects standards.

Support IFF selectable identification features/modes and AIMS certification efforts, plus Heads-Up Display (HUD) Primary Flight Reference (PFR) certification. Contribute to national security on a global scale through FMS programs for reconnaissance, close air support, and precision munitions. Gain career growth in a warfighting ecosystem-focused company.

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Secret clearance
  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in a related field and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline, 5 years of which must be in the DoD; OR Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 12 years of experience, 5 of which must be in the DoD
  • Experience with military GPS, Link-16, and/or SATCOM subsystems
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with USG aircraft and project certification process, including familiarity with MIL-STD-1553, RS-232, RS-422, RS-485, ARINC-429, 461, and/or 464

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized technical expertise for LAA avionic CNI systems including Controls and Displays, Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, Data Links, and Cabin Management Systems
  • Support LAA avionics systems development, testing, integration, and certification efforts
  • Review CNI OEM-delivered programmatic data such as engineering drawings, performance specifications, hardware and software configuration documentation, interface control documents, and commercial item descriptions to ensure deliverables meet requirements
  • Perform CNI engineering activities including related Military and Commercial Standards, Airworthiness Directives, CNI Architectures and Interfaces such as MIL-STD-1553 and RS-232
  • Assist with Interoperability of Communications Systems, Spectrum Management, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects airborne equipment standards, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and certification for TEMPEST, Spectrum, and HERO
  • Support IFF selectable identification features/modes and AIMS certification efforts
  • Support Heads-Up Display (HUD) Primary Flight Reference (PFR) certification efforts
