Blue Origin

Washington, US · Full-time · $156,802 – $219,522

About this role

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. This role is part of TeraWave, a satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. The Sr Satellite Avionics Engineer will architect and guide development of advanced avionics systems for satellite platforms.

Drive system-level design, hardware integration, and flight qualification across multidisciplinary teams. Design satellite avionics architectures including flight computers, embedded controllers, and autonomous system interfaces. Define and decompose requirements for avionics subsystems like sensors, actuators, and power distribution.

Thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation meets mission-critical execution. Collaborate with systems, software, propulsion, and mission operations teams to ensure alignment with program goals. Oversee PCB design, FPGA integration, EMI/EMC mitigation, and environmental qualification.

Manage and mentor a team of avionics engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth. Lead design reviews including SRR, PDR, and CDR to meet quality standards. Bring deep expertise in avionics architecture, embedded systems, and space-rated electronics.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in satellite avionics engineering
  • Proven expertise in avionics architecture, embedded systems, and space-rated electronics
  • Hands-on experience with flight computers, embedded controllers, sensors, actuators, and FPGA-based systems
  • Strong understanding of radiation tolerance, EEE part selection, and EMI/EMC compliance
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools, embedded software environments, and space qualification processes
