About this role
The Software Certification Engineer leads software certification efforts for certification planning and regulatory compliance oversight on assigned projects and products across Aviation Systems. This role covers a wide cross-section of aviation products, including power generation, power distribution, navigation, cockpit displays, computing, networking, ignition systems, sensors, and propellers.
Daily responsibilities include supporting programs to determine product certification strategy and certification basis, along with compliance planning and means of compliance. Review development artefacts, perform certification audit pre-assessments for internal projects and external suppliers, and audit project artifacts to assess compliance.
Collaborate with Integrated Project Teams to resolve audit findings, actions, and observations. Provide support to Customer AR and Regulatory Authority audits, while participating in industry working groups.
Work within GE Aerospace's Aviation Systems business, contributing to cohesive project plans and ensuring regulatory adherence across diverse aviation technologies.
Requirements
- Software development and/or certification experience in a RTCA/DO-178B or C environment
- Experience of demonstrating compliance to certification regulations
- Familiarity with RTCA DO-178B/C software certification standards
- Knowledge of certification planning documents such as PSAC and compliance methods
- Experience with aviation regulatory authority audits and oversight
