About this role
Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity’s reach into the solar system. Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. As an Avionics Engineer, you design flight hardware forming the backbone of satellite internal communication, power distribution, sensor aggregation, and flight computer systems.
You take ownership of the full lifecycle for hardware designs. Design circuits and PCBs for various spacecraft subsystems. Characterize, test, and validate hardware systems across the spacecraft.
Work collaboratively with engineers across the organization in a multidisciplinary team. Architecture, design, and execute satellite avionics solutions. Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring for the rapidly-growing team of 450 engineers.
Astranis designs, builds, and operates satellites from its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters. Develop creative, innovative solutions pushing satellite technology limits. Service a backlog of more than $1 billion in commercial contracts with five satellites on orbit.
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in electrical or computer engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- 2+ years experience in PCB/hardware design
- Passion for hardware development in a fast-paced environment with hands-on design
- Demonstrated ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch
- Strong analog/mixed-signal circuit design skill
- Experience with debugging circuits with embedded software, from oscilloscope to firmware
