About this role

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – CNC Programming & Manufacturing Engineer is a highly experienced leader implementing global standardization and technical innovation. This role extends beyond CNC programming execution to support manufacturing engineering and process excellence. The ideal candidate serves as a foundational pillar for the Machining Community of Practice.

Develop, review, and execute complex multi-axis CNC programming utilizing digital manufacturing techniques. Provide technical mentorship to manufacturing engineers, technologists, and technicians. Ensure effective technology transition from engineering to operations while identifying solutions to reduce cycle times and fabrication costs.

Lead the Global Communities of Practice to develop Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing guidelines, and process maturity matrices. Collaborate across global organizations to deploy best practices and standardize methods and equipment. Design advanced work-holding to improve legacy and new processes.

Support skill development and mentoring in CAD/CAM software and advanced machining techniques. Apply strong problem-solving and influencing skills to address manufacturing bottlenecks. Ensure processes comply with customer specifications and internal quality standards, with expected travel of 50% or more.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in engineering-level projects with complex manufacturing challenges (aerospace industry)
  • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing, automation, DFM, optimization and implementation in a production environment
  • Experience supporting multi-site or global manufacturing operations
  • Expected travel 50% or more
  • Advanced knowledge of CNC programming, traditional machining processes, and aero-engine materials/alloys
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills to support manufacturing bottlenecks

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement engineering solutions to reduce cycle times and fabrication costs
  • Design advanced work-holding to improve legacy and new processes
  • Lead the Global Communities of Practice to develop and publish Standard Operating Procedures, manufacturing guidelines and process maturity matrices
  • Collaborate across global organizations to deploy best practices and drive method and equipment standardization
  • Support skill development and mentoring for CAD/CAM software and advanced machining techniques
