About this role

Responsible for the research, integration, testing, certification, and follow-on support of avionics and electrical components and software for general aviation aircraft. This role focuses on establishing and refining cross-system requirements for a highly integrated avionics system. The goal is to ensure a high-quality end user experience with safe, robust, and intuitive design.

Day-to-day duties include integration and testing of avionics and electrical systems, requirements development and traceability, and research of potential solutions to design objectives. Perform detail design and installation, along with test case development, execution, and troubleshooting on bench and aircraft. Coordinate design development and system integration within the company and with subcontractors.

Work closely with equipment manufacturers, systems engineers, and test pilots within the organization. Collaborate to refine requirements for highly integrated avionics. Operate in a cross-functional team environment using tools like lab equipment and engineering software.

Generate high quality reports and test plans to meet FAR Part 23 certification requirements. Produce engineering documentation in accordance with company procedures for multiple aircraft type design data. Opportunities include contributing to certification and ongoing support for aviation systems.

Requirements

  • 6-10 years’ experience with general aviation avionics development/integration
  • Pilot experience desirable
  • Prior experience with integrated avionics systems (e.g. G1000, G3000, etc.)
  • Avionics systems, software and hardware development processes (e.g. ARP-4754/DO-178/DO-254)
  • Requirements traceability (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
  • Equipment environmental qualification (e.g. DO-160)
  • Basic mechanical Creo (CAD) drawing ability
  • Use of lab equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers
