The Avionics Engineer develops avionics and electrical solutions for improvements, expansions, or replacements on existing platforms or new developments. This role respects civil certification standards (FAA, TCCA, EASA) and military programs like Canadian CH-146. Responsibilities include analyzing requirements and supporting system integration.

Daily tasks involve writing test plans, analyzing results, and preparing certification reports. Update requirements management tools, certification plans, and compliance matrices. Conduct analyses for electrical loads, thermal, safety, and EMC.

Join the avionics and systems engineering team based in Mirabel, Québec. Coordinate with suppliers on displays, flight instruments, comm/nav, sensors, vision systems, health monitoring, and systems management. English communication required with external teams, suppliers, partners, and clients.

Support aircraft testing, SIL lab, troubleshooting, and initial installations (FAI). Review supplier technical documentation. Gain exposure to commercial and military aircraft integrations.

Requirements

  • Baccalauréat en génie électrique/avionique (Bachelor's degree in electrical/avionics engineering)
  • 5 years or more of relevant experience in aerospace or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with integration on commercial and military aircraft an asset
  • English communication required with Bell teams outside Québec and/or suppliers, partners, and clients outside Québec
  • Knowledge of civil certification standards (FAA, TCCA, EASA) and military programs (e.g., Canadian CH-146)
  • Ability to represent the discipline by providing/presenting technical support

Responsibilities

  • Analyze project, production, and certification requirements and develop technical solutions related to aircraft avionics and electrical systems
  • Support integration of systems including component selection, interface compatibility, electrical schematics drafting, and installation requirements identification
  • Write system test plans and procedures, analyze results, and prepare qualification reports for functional and certification tests at component and aircraft levels
  • Update requirements in the technical requirements management tool in response to change requests
  • Write and update certification plans, qualification plans, and compliance matrices
  • Prepare analyses supporting certification of installed or modified systems including electrical loads, thermal, safety analyses, and EMC
  • Support aircraft testing, systems integration lab (SIL) tests, and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with avionics suppliers in development, integration, and testing of displays, flight instruments, communication and navigation, sensors, vision systems, health monitoring, and systems management
