About this role

This role provides systems engineering and integration support plus technical leadership to NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate, Technology Demonstration Missions Program, and Space Nuclear Propulsion subproject. Personnel work closely with Project Managers and Leads, coordinating across Agency Mission Directorates and Centers. They lead development of key systems engineering products for SNP technical maturation.

Support includes guidance on programmatic processes, documentation, and systems engineering planning. Provide assessments and recommendations on processes affecting performance. Respond to technical and management issues for Nuclear Thermal Propulsion and Nuclear Electric Propulsion efforts.

Requirements

  • Experience in systems engineering and integration for space propulsion projects
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Thermal Propulsion and Nuclear Electric Propulsion technologies
  • Familiarity with NASA systems engineering processes and documentation
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and programmatic guidance
  • Skills in developing systems engineering products like requirements and interface documents
  • Proficiency in conducting independent technical assessments and analyses
  • Understanding of space technology mission directorate operations

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support in developing programmatic processes, documentation, process definition, and systems engineering management activities
  • Enable and aid development of systems engineering activities and products
  • Conduct assessments, independent analyses, and recommendations on systems engineering processes and documentation
  • Provide guidance in response to systems, technical, and management questions or issues affecting performance
  • Develop and document key systems engineering products for SNP technical maturation
  • Support integration with Agency-level Mission Directorates and Centers
  • Lead maturation efforts for Nuclear Thermal Propulsion and Nuclear Electric Propulsion systems
