About this role

General Dynamics Mission Systems–Canada seeks an experienced Quality Engineering Specialist for its Quality team, reporting to the Quality Manager. This role ensures compliance with AS9100 and DO-178C within integrated project teams. It supports engineering development and product lifecycle with focus on software airworthiness and audit leadership.

Provide pre-contract quality support and prepare project-specific QA plans. Act as quality lead, interfacing with DND TAA, DERs, and customers during audits like SOIs. Conduct process audits, issue corrective actions, and track to closure.

Serve on Configuration Control Boards and Material Review Boards, supporting design reviews. Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Product Support across development phases. Monitor formal test activities for certification evidence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering or software development
  • At least 6 years’ experience in quality engineering or related compliance roles
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and DO-178C standards
  • Experience with software airworthiness audits and certification processes
  • Familiarity with Configuration Control Boards and Material Review Boards
  • Ability to conduct process audits and root cause analyses

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-contract quality support, including estimating QA activities and contributing to proposals
  • Prepare and implement project-specific QA plans and contribute to project documentation
  • Act as the quality lead for assigned projects, ensuring compliance with AS9100, DO-178C, and airworthiness standards
  • Interface with DND TAA, DERs, and customer quality representatives during software airworthiness audits
  • Conduct independent process and product audits, identify non-conformances, and track corrective actions
  • Serve on Configuration Control Boards and Material Review Boards; support design reviews
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Product Support across development and sustainment
  • Monitor formal test activities for adherence to plans and compliance evidence
