About this role

Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator engineering operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Air-launched Talon testbeds provide reusable, cost-effective access to the hypersonic environment. We seek a Level II or Sr-level Avionics Engineer for propulsion test stands on high-speed aircraft.

You will design, integrate, test, and maintain software and avionics systems. Responsibilities include architecting avionics, maintaining configuration control over wiring diagrams and 3D CAD, and performing design analysis. Coordinate requirements and test plans with subsystem leads across disciplines.

Work closely with engineers to engineer technical solutions and support ground or flight tests. Provide regular communication to the Avionics Lead on progress. Evaluate risks and mitigation plans for system adequacy.

Be mentored by a subject matter expert with aerospace development background. Contribute to integrating complex aerospace systems advancing national security. Demonstrate honesty, responsibility, and fulfillment of commitments.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and experience with electrical engineering, avionics, electronics, software development, circuit design
  • Experience with UDP/TCP and PCM
  • Experience with integration of avionics wiring and hardware into an aerospace vehicle
  • Experience with aerospace vehicle bring-up, including ground tests, flight tests, and system validation
  • Experience with data acquisition and instrumentation (thermocouples, accelerometers, strain gages, pressure transducers)
  • Experience creating and reviewing wiring diagrams and/or circuit schematics
  • Experience with electrical design analysis such as power budgets, thermal analysis, or RF budgets
  • Experience in LabVIEW & Matlab, C#/C/C++, Python, or equivalent; MS Office

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, analyze, integrate, and test avionics and electrical systems
  • Maintain configuration control over major avionics system elements including wiring diagrams, 3D CAD, work orders
  • Coordinate with other subsystem leads to develop requirements, test plans, and procedures
  • Coordinate with engineers across disciplines to understand requirements and engineer technical solutions
  • Perform analysis to gauge system design adequacy and performance to meet program requirements
  • Create presentations and support design reviews throughout vehicle development
  • Support ground and/or flight test as required
  • Evaluate risks and risk mitigation plans
