About this role

Propulsion Hardware Development Engineers take the Aeon-R engine from paper designs to highly reliable, high-performance hardware. The role requires deep engagement with design and production teams to ensure designs are readily manufacturable. Manufacturing processes must be reliable and production-ready while developing new techniques for Aeon-R engines.

Daily work includes developing manufacturing processes, new techniques, and tools that enable high-rate production and higher engine performance. You work hand-in-hand with design and analysis teams to simplify propulsion systems and participate in design reviews to lead design-for-manufacturing initiatives.

The Propulsion team owns the full lifecycle of Aeon-R engines for Terran R, from initial design through production, qualification, and flight. Engineers operate in a bottoms-up culture that values ownership and accountability at every level without technical gatekeeping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, engineering, technology, or mathematics field
  • Strong engineering fundamentals and knowledge of aerospace manufacturing techniques
  • Hands-on hardware experience with fluid and/or mechanical systems
  • Experience defining build procedures and performing hands-on build and integration of hardware
  • Demonstrated drive to deliver on ambitious schedules, especially if unconventional and creative

Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing processes, new techniques, and tools to enable high-rate production and increase engine performance
  • Work hand-in-hand with design and analysis teams to simplify propulsion systems
  • Participate in design reviews and lead design-for-manufacturing initiatives
  • Design test setups, coordinate and execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing, and conduct data reviews
  • Participate in test failure investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Design, analyze, and procure tooling for piece-part manufacturing and system testing
  • Create and maintain development build and test schedules
